When Should Hooded Eyelids Be Treated
Some people find the sagginess of their eyelids barely noticeable and it is not bothering them.

The Benefits Of Eyelid Surgery For Hooded Eyes
Eyelid surgery can target either the upper eyelid, lower eyelid, or both. Upper eyelid surgery tends to target hooded eyes. But if you have puffiness or eye bags, then lower eyelid surgery could also remove excess tissue from the lower eyelid area. Its common for patients to have either surgery or have both at the same time. The benefit of combining the two procedures is that you have one surgery and one eyelid recovery period.

Eye Lift Before And After: Post
You need to follow certain post-operative care guidelines after an eye lifting surgery.
Here are some post-operative guidelines you need to follow:
- Apply ice pads or packs on your eyes and cheek for the first 48 hours after the surgery. This helps minimise swelling and skin discolouration.
- Keeping your head elevated helps minimise swelling. A recliner will work best, but adding an extra pillow to your bed also works.
- You can only wear contact lenses at least two weeks after the surgery.
- Extreme physical activity is discouraged within the first two weeks of the surgery. Light walking may be done three days after the surgery. Aerobic exercise, weight training, heavy lifting, and straining may only be gradually resumed three weeks after surgery.
- Sun exposure, sun lamps, and tanning beds should be avoided for six weeks after the surgery. Heat will cause the face to swell. Wearing a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher is therefore recommended.
- Swelling of the eyes is normal. Usually, it will just be gone within two weeks after the surgery for hooded eyes. In some cases, it will take up to six months for the swelling to completely subside.
- Take only medications that were prescribed by your surgeon.
- Wearing of makeup can be resumed seven to ten days after the eye cosmetic surgery.

Are Hooded Eyelids Uncomfortable
- The extra layers of skin that droop down can be heavy on the eyes and cause them discomfort. They can also and make it harder for you to see making you constantly tilt your head backwards even during a conversation. Moreover, saggy eyelids can make your eyes dry which can cause irritation and discomfort.
What To Expect After Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery
After getting treated with blepharoplasty, patients should expect to go home the same day. After a few days of surgery, a patient may experience some bruising, swelling and discomfort. A patient may also experience little pain but it can be managed with the prescribed medications by the doctor. Apart from these issues, a patient may also experience a double vision, temporary sensitivity to light, blurred vision and watery eyes.
Most of the patient will be recovered from blepharoplasty eyelid surgery after a few weeks but it may also return to work very shortly after the eye lift surgery takes place. So, at some point of time, it is very important to avoid strenuous activities just like jogging and heavy lifting until a doctor allows you to do so. There will be a need to avoid lowering the head during the recovery time because this can put some pressure on the sutures.
