What Are Dental Implants

Pre-Operative Instructions at Beacon Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons

The dental implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Small posts that protrude through the gums are then attached to the dental implant. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

Implants also help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.

What Our Patients Are Saying

Painless process. Very quick. Excellent experience. I had a family member use Southwest Oral surgery for their wisdom teeth removal, and he was very satisfied with the results. When it was time for my wife to have hers done, I reviewed yelp, google and a series of other sites and settled on Southwest Again. Most procedures are done off Watson at the main location, but we found the West County Location off Baxter and Clayton more convenient. When we got there, our concerns became their concerns, and they listened, provided their thoughts and we moved forward. The Oral surgeon Dr. Kramer was a very down to earth guy, who was easy to listen to.

    Thank You To Dr Harris

I want to say a huge thank you to Dr. Harris. I spent 3 excruciating days in horrible pain and him and his office took it upon themselves to see me and remove my tooth. Understanding the Value of Dental Implants

    • Implants replace the ROOTS. Roots are the foundation of teeth.
    • Prevents natural teeth from crookedly shifting into an empty space
    • The gold standard to replace missing teeth
    • Preserves bone and youthful facial fullness
    • Allows you to chew and bite with the strength of natural teeth to maintain a healthy diet
    • Restores spaces and unsightly cosmetic defects when smiling and speaking
    • Easily maintained
    • Easily placed and non-painful
    • Allows you to speak clearly
    • Creates confidence in maintaining a full set of fixed teeth
    • The global success rate of > 95% over 10 years compared to bridges, dentures, and root canals
    • Dental service of choice versus bridges or dentures in cost-benefit analysis over a lifetime

What we have learned is people do not want implants, they want teeth. Functional, strong, pretty, easy to maintain teeth. Implants are only a component of the total treatment and have become the standard of care for replacing missing teeth.

Your healthy, natural tooth & root is superior to any dental implant and your general dentist will take every step to save that tooth. But if there is a situation where you cannot avoid extracting the tooth, then a dental implant is the ideal choice for replacement.

Your general dentist restores the implant with the crown to achieve bite balance.

Bite balance, healthy adjacent teeth, good oral hygiene and no smoking are a must for a completely successful outcome.

    Strong Secure Tooth Replacement

A lost or damaged tooth creates a number of oral health challenges. Dental implants create a new tooth from the root to the surface.

    Replace whats missing

Tooth loss affects your ability to chew and smile. It also creates problems for your bone and gum tissue because of the loss of your tooth root.

A dental implant is made from a surgical grade of titanium. Your implant is surgically placed into your gum and bone tissue to create new, secure tooth root.

The abutment supports your dental crown on the surface to restore you tooth structure. Youll be able to eat, chew, and smile with renewed confidence following tooth replacement with a dental implant.

Dental implants are effective within the upper and/or lower arch of your mouth. Single or multiple implants can be placed at strategic locations to restore all or most of your missing teeth in the specific arch where tooth loss has occurred.

Tooth replacement solutions with dental implants

Implants provide you a secure option for a variety of tooth replacements. Each missing teeth solution relies on the stability of a select number of dental implants secured to your available bone and gum tissue.

A partial prosthesis can replace two or more teeth and may require only two or three implants. A complete dental prosthesis replaces all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. The number of implants varies depending upon which type of complete prosthesis is recommended. A removable prosthesis attaches to a bar or ball-in-socket attachments, whereas a fixed prosthesis is permanent and removable only by the dentist.

What Our Patients Have To Say

“Dr. Pagni is the best! Pure class, sense of humor, great doctor. My first visit was around 6 years ago when I got my wisdom teeth taken out. The operation when smooth and the recovery was instantaneous! I never even felt the need to take a Tylenol following the surgery as I had no pain! My second visit was last week for a consultation. My family dentist saw something he was unsure about in an x-ray. He told me to go see Pagni and get it checked out. Dr. Pagni saw me, said it was nothing, and let me go without paying a cent.”
